Advanced Diploma in Critical Care

Critical care is an upcoming specialty and presently has a huge shortage of trained dedicated manpower. Doctors are a major workforce in ICU teams. This course has been proposed to impart structured critical care training to doctors to improve patient management skills.

On completion of this course, the candidate will be able to:

• Recognize common rhythm disturbances.

• Interpret blood gases and assess acid-base status.

• Provide basic ventilator orders for most patients.

• Classify shock and outline hemodynamic patterns.

• Get awareness of the ethical principles pertinent to critically ill patients, especially end of life care and issues around withdrawing and withholding life support.

• Get familiar with airway management and indications for intubation.

• Use inotropes and vasopressors appropriately

• Interpret an electrocardiogram and recognize important life-threatening findings.
